Happy Birthday to Me

my mom brought champagne, ice cream cake and flowers

It is officially the day of my birth and I am 21 years old. My mom and brother came over and we ate Chinese food, ice cream cake and toasted with champagne. I'm truly a simple girl and that was the best way I could have celebrated my birthday; I don't need to shake my ass in a club to have a good time (though that can be fun). This birthday has been perfect so far.

Here's an outfit I wore the other day; I felt really cute in it ;) My birthday outfit will appear shortly.

Welcome to Hollywood

As I walked to meet my friend Sarah today and passed an apartment building a doorman said "Welcome to Hollywood" when he saw me. Though it amused me I'm not sure what he meant, perhaps he was commenting on how super fly I looked :-D

I hate that these shoes are too small for me, it's just not fair! I saw these shoes a couple of years ago at DSW and I just had to have them in my life so I bought these beauties knowing they were a half size too small :-( As I mentioned in my last post I bought a few new things yesterday which includes these boyfriend jeans and black bag. I'll probably dedicate a whole post to what I got. Happy Saturday loves.

Spooked

I had such an amazing shopping day; I bought this cool fedora hat, not Justin Timberlake Justified album fedora, but an old school wool one. I had every intention of posting my buys but my awesome day ended quite bizarrely. I witnessed the aftermath of a man getting hit by a SUV. I was about a block and half away from my apartment and I hear a loud 'boom'; I see fragments of the car flying and a few feet ahead there's a man lying lifelessly on the ground. I couldn't believe my eyes. The SUV came to a stop and the young man driving sprung out of his car panicked. He couldn't believe what had happened and I could tell that he knew his life had just changed. I just wanted to console him; he was completely horrified at what he had done. I called 911 along with other onlookers and walked home in a daze. All I can think about is that man lying on the street. I wonder if he saw the car and if he did, was he scared. I'm really hoping that he firstly survives and that he will be alright, that both men will be alright.

Life is fleeting, enjoy every moment.
(I'm a little freaked out; I feel as though life has become a series of landmines we have to avoid and any misstep may result in one blowing up.)

"I can't stand the rain [and snow]" -Missy

Sorry for the lack of posts, when the weather is shitty I go into comfortable mode and just wear jeans and tees, basically nothing blog worthy. Also, I've been just sabotaging myself regarding school so my mind has been in other places.

Anyway, I hope everyone is having a splendid weekend and thanks for stopping by. Catch you later.

Conservatively Punky...

...is what I have dubbed this outfit, so that is what it will be called!

Happy Belated Valentine's Day to all of you. I'm over people saying it's purely a money making holiday created by greeting card companies. I think Valentine's Day is a sweet reminder to show the ones we love that we indeed love them. Though we shouldn't need a holiday in order to express our love/like, it certainly presents the opportunity to stop and do something nice.

So this is NOT what I wore on Valentine's, this is an outfit from a few days ago. I thought not posting everyday would leave room for the days I don't wear a blog worthy outfit but it has just left me playing catch up.

The Look Goes As Follows:
H&M top, jacket, collar, skirt
UO tights & ear cuff
unfinished studded Converses
random cardigan
UO or H&M necklace (I think)

Picture Day

I had my yearbook picture taken on Tuesday and wore the outfit below. You can't go wrong with a black sweater, so I chose something that I wouldn't be repulsed by ten years from now. This is my last semester and taking those pictures solidified that I will soon enter what we like to call "the real world" as if the world we're living in while in school isn't real.

Most of you know about all the snow the east coast got on Wednesday, this is how it looked outside my window. Quite picturesque I would say.

Gap Sweater

BDG cords
Steve madden oxfords

Want vs. Need

It's the age of surplus.
I find myself obtaining more.
And I fantasize about what I have not yet procured.
I think I have enough.

*edit - I'm not going on a ban; I'm just taking a break from consumerism, but if I see something I want I may buy it. I'll have to think it over.

Hooker Chic?

This outfit is one of those looks that I really liked while at home and as soon as I left my apartment I felt a little self-conscious. I never got over it the whole day but I'm happy I wore my clothes in a way I haven't before. Like my blog title says, clothes are cute and I try to have as much fun as possible with different looks. For some reason I was almost certain people saw my thigh high socks and booties and thought I was a hooker. Paranoia is a real bitch.

Tsk tsk tsk. I've been trying to find the secret formula to a successful blog but my equation still doesn't make sense. I know it's taboo to actually say you want people to visit your blog but the way I enjoy other people's blogs, I would like people to enjoy mine. That's all.

Speaking of enjoyable blogs I would like to give a gargantuan shout out to Graham of Suck My Savvy. He runs a beautiful blog with equally beautiful content. People really don't use the word beautiful enough. If I've introduced you to Graham's blog tell him clothes are cute sent you, I feel as though he would get a chuckle out of that.

Can you tell I'm tired?

A Family Affair

my oldest nephew Trevor, the little one is Jordan and me

Hello my sweets, it's been a full week since I spoke to you last. I have been spending some serious quality time with my family in Illinois this past week. It was really fun, especially spending time with my two year old nephew Jordan who I like to call JMJ (Jordan Michael Julien). It's amazing how a three initial nickname rolls off the tongue when you say it enough times.

Well now I'm back in New York and school has finally started. I'm excited to have something to do, my winter vacation was too long (I never thought I would say that). Here are some pictures from my trip and what I wore today :)
