Homebody

It's not necessarily the comfort of curling up on the couch and watching movies that makes me a homebody, it's actually the comfort of knowing that I'm free to be myself. No one to judge me (I live alone), no one to answer to; I am me and in my little apartment that is good enough.

The Other Type of Working Girl

having some fun with photo booth

Sometimes my job as a bookseller brings me to places where I have to look a little more professional than I'm used to, so I try to find a happy medium between my style and what is expected of me. Black is a really safe place for me when I have to be professional, whether that means a black dress or black slacks; black seems to be a great foundation to build a good conservative work look on. I then choose some cute heels that usually aren't black and I'm good to go.

I hope everyone is having a splendid lazy Sunday. Talk to you soon :-)

Happy Birthday to Me

my mom brought champagne, ice cream cake and flowers

It is officially the day of my birth and I am 21 years old. My mom and brother came over and we ate Chinese food, ice cream cake and toasted with champagne. I'm truly a simple girl and that was the best way I could have celebrated my birthday; I don't need to shake my ass in a club to have a good time (though that can be fun). This birthday has been perfect so far.

Here's an outfit I wore the other day; I felt really cute in it ;) My birthday outfit will appear shortly.

H&M trench, leggings & top
Polo cardigan

Welcome to Hollywood

As I walked to meet my friend Sarah today and passed an apartment building a doorman said "Welcome to Hollywood" when he saw me. Though it amused me I'm not sure what he meant, perhaps he was commenting on how super fly I looked :-D

I hate that these shoes are too small for me, it's just not fair! I saw these shoes a couple of years ago at DSW and I just had to have them in my life so I bought these beauties knowing they were a half size too small :-( As I mentioned in my last post I bought a few new things yesterday which includes these boyfriend jeans and black bag. I'll probably dedicate a whole post to what I got. Happy Saturday loves.

Spooked

I had such an amazing shopping day; I bought this cool fedora hat, not Justin Timberlake Justified album fedora, but an old school wool one. I had every intention of posting my buys but my awesome day ended quite bizarrely. I witnessed the aftermath of a man getting hit by a SUV. I was about a block and half away from my apartment and I hear a loud 'boom'; I see fragments of the car flying and a few feet ahead there's a man lying lifelessly on the ground. I couldn't believe my eyes. The SUV came to a stop and the young man driving sprung out of his car panicked. He couldn't believe what had happened and I could tell that he knew his life had just changed. I just wanted to console him; he was completely horrified at what he had done. I called 911 along with other onlookers and walked home in a daze. All I can think about is that man lying on the street. I wonder if he saw the car and if he did, was he scared. I'm really hoping that he firstly survives and that he will be alright, that both men will be alright.

Life is fleeting, enjoy every moment.
(I'm a little freaked out; I feel as though life has become a series of landmines we have to avoid and any misstep may result in one blowing up.)
