Gagging

Ciara in Mark Fast.
To quote Rachel Zoe "I die."

might not be something you would wear but come on, the girl's body is pretty sick.

I've missed you

Last week my hard drive crashed and every photo I've ever had and anything I've ever written was wiped away as if they never existed. I just got my laptop back yesterday and I'm just trying to make it feel like my own again, so bare with me. Thanks to everyone who has shown interest in my blog despite my absence. I'll be blogging again shortly.

with love,

Last week I was just totally over taking pictures of myself in pretty clothes. I threw on some dropped crotch sweats from H&M, my fave Nikes and an Obey bandeau and took some pictures. Holla at inadvertently making an outfit post.

An Open Letter to You, My Dear

An open letter to Britney 'Hit Me Baby One More Time/I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman' Spears:

Dear Ms. Spears,

I'm appalled and frankly confused by your fashion sense in recent years, this is not to say that when you were in the height of your career it was any better. Let me explain. I had and still have an appreciation for your wackadoodle red carpet and stage looks. Take a look at exhibit A; in 2001 you and then boyfriend Justin Timberlake wore...wait for it, well you already know, matching denim ensembles! I know, I can't believe it either. Dude, it was a floor length denim gown with a sweetheart neckline with a matching denim evening bag. Really Brit Brit? Really? But let me tell you, it was so bad that it was good. Actually it was absurd but lets move on. It wasn't all bad, both 'I'm a Slave for You' and 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' VMA costumes were sexy and just f-ing fierce, for a reminder see exhibits B and C. So lets fast forward, after all the cooch flashing, shaved head and dating a pap; you have now resigned yourself to a uniform of of tanks and shorts (exhibits D). It's not good Brit, not good at all. And I won't get started on your weave, that's not really my place. Ok, take a look at exhibit E and I won't say another word. I hope you learned something from this; I am only harsh because I care. I actually love you. I'm not trying to rip you a new asshole but rather open your eyes to how cute you are; I just wish you would dress like you knew that.

Fan for life,

Two quick things:

-Lindsay has huge bozongas
-I want (need) her shoes.

Be In Style

I was recently featured in Be In Style's Best of the Web: Style blogs of the week No. 5. It's always nice to be noticed and I'm quite thankful to be included. Here's what was said:

"Another fashion must read and a diary of sorts is Clothes are Cute. Skirting around topics that consist of chic fashion trends and this blogger’s personal taste in style, this blog’s number one goal is to make fashion fun and explorative. She prides herself in the ability to formulate a playful outfit and now you will gain the know-how too."

Sorry I've been an absent blogger, I think I just needed a timeout from my computer. Talk to you soon blogger buddies

Princess Cut Diamonds Increasing Popularity

The round brilliant cut diamond may be the most popular cut of diamond for engagement solitaires, but the princess cut diamond is fast catching up. This cut of diamonds was only recently introduced on the diamond scene in the 1060s. However, since then, its popularity has continued to grow as the shape and cut appeal to more modern tastes.

Unique Cut

The cut is unique in that it is a square or rectangular with a conical pavilion base. It can be as brilliant as the round brilliant cut, but with quite a different look. The combination of square cut with the sparkle of a brilliant round is ultra appealing to a crowd that wants their bling, but in a more modern shape than the round.

Price is Right

Another appealing fact of the princess cut diamond is its price. In a sour economy with consumers searching for high value/low cost luxury goods, the princess cut can’t be beat. The cut keeps about 80% of the rough diamond, in comparison to only 50% for the round brilliant, and this keeps costs down. You’ll end up getting more crystal used in the final cut stone from the rough diamond when you choose a princess cut diamond. Getting the modern style they want at the price they want is obviously one of the main reasons this cut is increasing in popularity daily.

Spooked

I had such an amazing shopping day; I bought this cool fedora hat, not Justin Timberlake Justified album fedora, but an old school wool one. I had every intention of posting my buys but my awesome day ended quite bizarrely. I witnessed the aftermath of a man getting hit by a SUV. I was about a block and half away from my apartment and I hear a loud 'boom'; I see fragments of the car flying and a few feet ahead there's a man lying lifelessly on the ground. I couldn't believe my eyes. The SUV came to a stop and the young man driving sprung out of his car panicked. He couldn't believe what had happened and I could tell that he knew his life had just changed. I just wanted to console him; he was completely horrified at what he had done. I called 911 along with other onlookers and walked home in a daze. All I can think about is that man lying on the street. I wonder if he saw the car and if he did, was he scared. I'm really hoping that he firstly survives and that he will be alright, that both men will be alright.

Life is fleeting, enjoy every moment.
(I'm a little freaked out; I feel as though life has become a series of landmines we have to avoid and any misstep may result in one blowing up.)

Awards & DSLR Cameras

****I NEED YOUR HELP! I'm starting to save up for one of those fancy DSLR cameras but I have no idea which to get. Any suggestions would be sweet! I really wouldn't know where to start on my search.

Dudes and dudettes, this is my first blogger award and that's pretty cool. Yes, I'm a dork but that's besides the point. I really love this little blog I have here so the award is, dare I say, special to me :) Thanks Shannon from Dirty Hair Halo for bestowing upon me The Most Glamorous Person Ever Award! haha no no, that wasn't it, it's the Glamorous Blog Award. If you're not familiar with Shannon's blog, check it out because it's really good. She mixes prints and textures and is a pretty amazing dresser. Snazzy, that's the word.

I will in turn present this award (in no particular order) to:

Kelly @ Lions, Tigers & Fashion Oh My! - with her long flowy hair and penchant for diy projects, she is simply fab.

Elaine @ Clothed Much - she's super sweet and super stylish; what more can you ask for?

Dylana @ Nana in Wonderland - I adore her style; she is so effortless.

I hope all is well with everyone. Smooches (yeah I said smooches, get over it)

your bestie for life,
kim

F21 Goes Hard

go hard - doing something to it's fullest; doing something well (definition courtesy of Urbandictionary.com)

I love to play high/how with my wardrobe and Forever 21 clothes and shoes are great examples of awesome low items that look of quality (most of the time). Like any other night I was perusing their site for new shoes and I found these beauties. You can't tell me F21 doesn't go hard. Mmmmm, delish.

Cutie Pie

If this doesn't make you smile, nothing will. I saw this on Dlisted today and just had to post it. I love when kids are just amazing and adorable. He clearly doesn't know the lyrics which makes this video all the more awesome and he's a whiz at the ukulele. Now I have to go back to writing papers, yikes! I think we can safely file this under Cutest Thing Ever.

My name is Kimberly...

and I'm a shoe addict. As soon as the other half of my shoe purchases are delivered, I will show you all what I have bought in the last week alone. Ever hear of the crazy drug state of being in a k-hole? Well I fell into a shoe hole.

Insecure Much?

We all have insecurities; I was just wondering how you all deal with them?

I've had acne probably since I was 13 and I'm 20 now, so it has plagued me for a long time. Not only do I have acne but I have the scars to prove it. It's my number #1 insecurity, it precedes any body issues I may have. And I've noticed because of my insecurities about my face (along with other things) I'm guarded and my self-esteem is lower than it should be. I deal with it by...I don't think I do deal with it actually. Humor covers up a lot of my issues; I turn to humor to say "everything is alright" when it sometimes isn't. So my personal mission is to figure stuff out and be confident. I think I can do it :)

Label Whores

label whore

A label whore is someone who only wears brand name clothes, with the name of the brand usually placed somewhere for all to see. A walking advertisement for a clothing store or brand.
(definition from Urban Dictionary)
So I was watching a reality show the other night and one of the women featured went on and on about how she loves all these different high end brands in a really obnoxious way. It was as if since the items were these big name designers they were then fashionable. NAMES DO NOT EQUATE STYLE! It's unfortunate that some people think that way; money sometimes caters to delusion.

Lordy, I had to get that off of my chest! I just never understood the reasoning.

Working Hard, Unfortunately

Sorry for the lack of posts, I have papers due for all of my classes so I've been really busy writing papers and hating life. I don't think I've ever gone this long without posting an outfit pic. Something is coming soon; I promise! I'm going to leave you with this image; damn, cats are smart.

I remember when...

...Brandy was "just sittin' on top of the world"
...SNL was funny
...everyone had a Livestrong band (sometimes) unconscious of its meaning
...I felt I could do anything
...the Twin Towers could be seen from my 7th grade classroom in Long Island
...boys didn't affect me
...a song couldn't make me cry
...I wore a uniform five days a week (for 13 years)
...books used to be fun (college made them tedious)
...Britney was wholesome
...the guys I know were only boys
...teenage love was a possibility
...my virginity wasn't something I needed to be cured of
...AOL chatrooms were cool
...I got my first cell phone
...I cried in my mother's arms about the broken relationship between me and my father
...it stung to be called an Oreo
...my oldest brother called me a dumb broad and meant it
...New York City was a far away place

The Weirdness

I just came back from Abercrombie & Fitch, the huge one on 5th and 56th, and it was something else. The music was blaring, it reeked of cologne and it was super dark for a place where clothes have to be seen. On to the staff, everyone and I mean everyone is really good looking. My friend works there (which is why I went) and he's a hottie and so is everyone he works with. He said "you could work here" and I'm thinking no way! That place totally messed with my head, it was like the jocks, cheerleaders and popular kids decided to work in a store lol.

Wish List

Like everyone else I've been in love with the Acne wedges but can't afford them in this life or probably the next. Perhaps I could but I kind of like not starving. Anyway, I'm pretty certain I'll get Jeffrey Campbell's affordable alternative. They're not as magical as the ones from Acne but they look pretty damn good.
