Conservatively Punky...

...is what I have dubbed this outfit, so that is what it will be called!

Happy Belated Valentine's Day to all of you. I'm over people saying it's purely a money making holiday created by greeting card companies. I think Valentine's Day is a sweet reminder to show the ones we love that we indeed love them. Though we shouldn't need a holiday in order to express our love/like, it certainly presents the opportunity to stop and do something nice.

So this is NOT what I wore on Valentine's, this is an outfit from a few days ago. I thought not posting everyday would leave room for the days I don't wear a blog worthy outfit but it has just left me playing catch up.

The Look Goes As Follows:
H&M top, jacket, collar, skirt
UO tights & ear cuff
unfinished studded Converses
random cardigan
UO or H&M necklace (I think)

Picture Day

I had my yearbook picture taken on Tuesday and wore the outfit below. You can't go wrong with a black sweater, so I chose something that I wouldn't be repulsed by ten years from now. This is my last semester and taking those pictures solidified that I will soon enter what we like to call "the real world" as if the world we're living in while in school isn't real.

Most of you know about all the snow the east coast got on Wednesday, this is how it looked outside my window. Quite picturesque I would say.

The Look Goes As Follows:
H&M jacket
Gap Sweater
mom's scarf
BDG cords
Steve madden oxfords

Want vs. Need

It's the age of surplus.
I find myself obtaining more.
And I fantasize about what I have not yet procured.
I think I have enough.

*edit - I'm not going on a ban; I'm just taking a break from consumerism, but if I see something I want I may buy it. I'll have to think it over.

The Look Goes As Follows:
H&M jacket & leggings
BDG armwarmers
Joyce Leslie button down
UO scarf
Nicole boots
DIY socks

Hooker Chic?

This outfit is one of those looks that I really liked while at home and as soon as I left my apartment I felt a little self-conscious. I never got over it the whole day but I'm happy I wore my clothes in a way I haven't before. Like my blog title says, clothes are cute and I try to have as much fun as possible with different looks. For some reason I was almost certain people saw my thigh high socks and booties and thought I was a hooker. Paranoia is a real bitch.

Tsk tsk tsk. I've been trying to find the secret formula to a successful blog but my equation still doesn't make sense. I know it's taboo to actually say you want people to visit your blog but the way I enjoy other people's blogs, I would like people to enjoy mine. That's all.

Speaking of enjoyable blogs I would like to give a gargantuan shout out to Graham of Suck My Savvy. He runs a beautiful blog with equally beautiful content. People really don't use the word beautiful enough. If I've introduced you to Graham's blog tell him clothes are cute sent you, I feel as though he would get a chuckle out of that.

Can you tell I'm tired?

The Look Goes As Follows:
Thrifted sweater & Diesel necklace
DIY socks
UO tights
H&M skirt
Deena & Ozzy booties

A Family Affair

my oldest nephew Trevor, the little one is Jordan and me

Hello my sweets, it's been a full week since I spoke to you last. I have been spending some serious quality time with my family in Illinois this past week. It was really fun, especially spending time with my two year old nephew Jordan who I like to call JMJ (Jordan Michael Julien). It's amazing how a three initial nickname rolls off the tongue when you say it enough times.

Well now I'm back in New York and school has finally started. I'm excited to have something to do, my winter vacation was too long (I never thought I would say that). Here are some pictures from my trip and what I wore today :)

Fun Fact: I've been an aunt since I was 9

Hello my sweets, I hope everyone's weekend went well. I didn't do much besides watch movies and redo the twists in my hair. If you haven't seen One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, I would highly recommend it. A super young Danny DeVito is as cute as a button and Jack Nicholson is great as usual. So here is an outfit I wore the other day to lunch with one of my besties, Sarah.

BREAKING NEWS! My niece was born last night, yay! I'm going to Illinois tomorrow to see her; she just couldn't wait until I got there, but I forgive her. Can't wait to see you Morgan :-D

Love,
Auntie Kim<3

Purple Drank

title - a drink of choice for many, especially those who like the taste Robitussin

Yesterday night I went to a comedy show with my friend Jaren that raised money for Haiti. Being of Haitian descent it's weird to hear Haiti on the lips of people that probably never heard of the country, but it's especially weird to see my parents' country, the country that I've visited many times, all over the news. It feels different and distant. Anyway, it was a great night. My favorite comedian, Colin Quinn, was the final act and he killed. I would marry that man. Yeah he's 50 years old, don't judge me lol.

When thinking about what to wear yesterday I only had two requirements: flat shoes, no pants. Here is what I came up with.

The Look Goes As Follows:
Silence + Noise top
Silence + Noise sleeveless shirt
H&M skirt
Dr. Martens boots

My Sweet

My mother is my favorite person in the whole entire world.

Last week was her birthday so I took her out to dinner and it was great to have some real quality time with her. Happy Birthday Ma :-D

I got this knit dress from Lord & Taylor awhile ago and decided this was the perfect opportunity to wear it. Horizontal stripes are so cute but so deadly. We all know they have the ability to widen the appearance of our bodies so I tried not to stare in the mirror too long when I put it on.

The Look Goes As Follows:
H&M coat
Vertical Design dress
Aldo shoes

In The Year 2000

This sweatshirt is one of the those things that has transitioned from something strictly worn at home to something, out of pure laziness, into something I wore out the other day. I'm not sure who's "Expo 2000 Hanover" sweatshirt this was in my family or how they got it but it made it back to my apartment some how.

I spy with my little eye a Mickey Mouse hat (I told you it would appear again :-D )
The Look Goes As Follows:
Hand-me-down sweatshirt
H&M leggings
Deena & Ozzy heels

On another note, here's a random picture of the craziness which is my shoe collection. There are boots that aren't pictured as well as the shoes in the boxes seen and in boxes not seen. I need to get organized :/
